Did you know just 35 mins East of Edmonton is a Royal Astronomical Society of Canada designated Dark-Sky Preserve?! For us this simply means we have a wicked place to go stargazing and check out the Northern lights! Pack a picnic and head out to Elk Island National Park Saturday for a day of music, crafts, solar viewing and interactive displays to expand your astronomical knowledge! Take advantage of the long weekend, stay up a little later with the kids and enjoy a stunning sunset over Astotin Lake and then see the big night sky through volunteer-provided telescopes! Plan to take in the guest speaker at the Astotin Theatre at 8 pm and then pick up your special night geocaching guide for a high tech scavenger hunt!
