It’s a weekend like no other in the Go East Region! Check out our Featured Events for the week and explore another culture or perhaps you’d like to play in the mud and listen to some music! No matter what you fancy the Go East Region has you covered!

Extreme Mudfest
August 23 – 26

Head out to Bonnyville this weekend for mud races, mud runs and music! That’s right; this is a festival all about mud and music! There really is something for everyone at Mudfest! The weekends entertainment includes nightly performers, a softball tournament, an Extreme mud run, and of course the mud races and demolition derby’s daily! There are a variety of races to watch, including but not limited to lawn mowers, outlaw top trucks and quad racing!
Camping is available first come first serve!! Secure your spot by getting there early. Gates open Thursday at noon.

Voyageur Days at Metis Crossing

Another culture rich with history in our region is the Metis community. Metis crossing is the first major Metis cultural interpretive centre in Alberta teaching, immersing and allowing the experience of living in the traditional Metis fashion. The Voyageur Experience is a day in the life and times of the Metis during the peak of the fur trade. You will loose yourself in the sound of the fiddle as you step the Red River Jig, learn tricks of the trade to set a trap, delight in indigenous inspired cuisine and more! If you are looking for an adventure close to home head out to Voyageur Days!

Highland Gathering of the Clans

The Flagstaff Scottish Club invites you to Sedgewick for a weekend of Highland games. Step back in time and join in on some of the games, like the heavy Event! Don’t know what to do at a Heavy Event, no worries, there will be a “How to” clinic! Enjoy the unique traditional music of bagpipes, watch the impressive Highland dancers and learn a few 18th century artisan skills, like candlestick making, knifemaking and much more!! The kids will love the petting zoo and sheep herding Demo! After all this excitement you may want to sit back and try some local craft beer, Barr Estate Winery fruit wines or perhaps Back 40 Distillery spirits will quench your thirst! The day won’t end here, there’s still dancing, ax-throwing, a fiddle demo and more! Bring your Brave Heart and have a fun filled day at the Gathering!

Babas and Borshch Ukrainian Festival
Saturday, August 25 at 10:00 to 6:00 pm

Sunday, August 26, at 11:00 to 4:00 pm

Take an adventure through Ukrainian culture, immigration and settlement in Lamont this weekend! You will be able to build a new pick (a traditional day bake oven), learn Ukrainian dance, get a glimpse of the settlement time thru the words of Calgary author Pam Clark, and so much more a this 2 day festival. Everybody’s been talking about it, why not come out and see for yourself!

Vintage Tractor Pull
Saturday, August 24 to the 26th

There are activities for all members of the family including horse and wagon rides, children's toy tractor pulling, a kid's play area, silent auction, vendor tent, static displays, noon hour parade of power and various vintage farming demonstrations including stooking and harvesting with a threshing machine. Tours of the historic Bremner Mansion are offered by Strathcona County staff. The Tractor Pull will be held at the Bremner Historic Site located at 53452 RR 225, Sherwood Park.

Sedgewick Rough Stock Rodeo
Sunday, August 26

Dust your boots off, grab your hat and head out to the Rough Stock Rodeo this Sunday! No need to cook breakfast, pancakes will be served at 8 am! The day is full of events you’re sure to enjoy!! Tickets are only $15 to get in the gates and you will see a trade show, kids mini tractor pull, kids money pit, bouncy castles, the rodeo at 3:00 pm and so much more! And, Good luck at the Cow Patty Bingo!
