Village of Marwayne
Life from All Angles
Marwayne is located just 10 minutes north of the Yellowhead Highway, at the intersection of Highways 45 and 897. It is a community of nearly 700 friendly people that are proud of its small-town atmosphere. Situated in a picturesque location, Marwayne provides a family-oriented, small-town lifestyle with city amenities nearby. The area is a leader in agri-business and the oil and gas industry.
ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS
Check out the Cargill grain elevator, the first concrete elevator built in Canada. Marwayne is proud of its volunteers and strong community-minded citizens, and aims to provide quality services to both residents and visitors. Community sporting events and dances take place at the new hall and the renovated arena and curling rink.
Stop and see the Welcome Triangle garden maintained completely by volunteers. There is a heritage shrub, located in the triangle, which was brought over from England by one of the original settlers in 1902 and was donated to the village.
The indoor Professional Bull Riding event takes place in April while the town holds a Community-Wide Garage Sale in May. In June, check out the Rodeo Street Dance, the Lea Park Professional Rodeo and the Gospel Jamboree. In October enjoy the Fall Fair, and the annual Light Up Marwayne in December rounds out a year of events in town.
For overnight or longer stays, Marwayne Campground offers full-service camping sites with power, shower facilities, wireless Internet, and a dumping station at the Chamber Park located at the arena. Ten minutes north on Highway 897 is Lea Park (Jubilee Regional) Campground and the Lea Park Raven Golf Course where the Old Vermilion and North Saskatchewan rivers meet. Enjoy camping, golfing, free WiFi, fishing, trails, and a beautiful scenic view of the river valley from the top of Snake Hill.
Marwayne has a newly revitalized downtown core where visitors can stop for a coffee, visit local shops, or have a meal at one of the restaurants. For those looking for farm fresh products, Kathy's Greenhouse and Garden Centre is a great stop. No Need to Nock is a shop in a historic stone building that carries gifts of all kinds, from clothing and jewellery to home décor, plus coffee too.
