Description:

Take a drive to Tofield, and discover this hidden gem just 40 minutes southeast of Edmonton on Highway 14. This thriving community boasts a population nearing 2100, and features a variety of local and unique businesses serving the area. Tofield's community leaders are actively looking to the future with planned residential and commercial growth.

ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS
The Beaverhill Lake Nature Centre and Museum facility, located on the service road to Tofield, is a great place to begin your visit. Open regularly from June through Labour Day, the facility is home to numerous interpretive displays on the rich natural and cultural, history of the area. You'll also find a supply of tourist information to assist your further travels, and the Tofield Museum is one of the best in the area! (See also CREAM Museum Tour).

Tofield hosts many fun annual events including the Bull Bash and Snow Goose Chase Event in April, the Rodeo in June, Tour de la Alberta in July, Heritage Classic Show ‘n Shine in August, plus ball tournaments in September, and the Winter Festival in December.

OUTDOORS
This family-oriented community boasts several recreation facilities and opportunities for all ages. Summer or winter – there is something for all ages here in Tofield! Stroll the walking trails, bring the kids to the spray park, hockey or curling, year-round soccer, or play 9 holes at the Tofield Golf Course. Enjoy the quiet setting with a picnic in one of the many parks and playgrounds located in town. Bring the camper and stay at the Tofield Campground, also located right in town. The campground has 18 sites, indoor washrooms and showers, as well as power to all sites. Black Nugget Lake Park is nearby for an alternate camping spot with a stocked lake for fishing, as well as Coal Creek Golf Resort, adjacent to the park.

Relax and spend the afternoon birdwatching. Beaverhill Lake is one of the few federally recognized Bird Sanctuaries in Canada. Two hundred and fifty species have been sighted during migration, and about half that number nest and make their summer home in the area. It is an ideal location for the casual birder to try out the hobby.

EAT SHOP STAY
A wide array of businesses serves this area, including drugstores, grocery, hardware and automotive shops, along with a unique saddlery store and ice cream shops. Businesses just minutes from town include: Beary Beary Honey, Hastings Lake Gardens and Maple Park Greenhouses & Garden Centre (see Greenhouse Tour). Check out Busy B Bargains for a plethora of “next to new everything.” Don't miss a visit to The Prairie Willow Co. and The Moonshine Café – Tofield's only boutique and specialty café in a beautiful historic building right on mainstreet. Those looking to stay overnight should try the cozy railroad cabooses at Footloose Caboose Lodge, and enjoy a meal in their dining car. Shop for local produce at the Farmers’ Market at the Community Hall.
