ATTRACTIONS & EVENTSThe Thorhild area was settled in the early 1900s. Visit the Thorhild Museum to view fine antiques and mementos from this earlier time. Drive the historic Victoria Trail along the North Saskatchewan River for a journey through history.
Everyone loves a good parade and rodeo. The Egremont Community Parade and Newbrook Fair Days are held in June. Celebrate Canada 150 on July 1st in Thorhild at the Parade, Stampede and Demolition Derby. The Parade is one of the largest in the region.
OUTDOORSDo you love the outdoors? Half Moon Lake Park Natural Area offers trails, swimming, relaxing on the beach and a scenic little campground. Take your family fishing at the Radway Fish Pond. If you are into geocaching, there are caches located within the County. Long Lake Provincial Park is home to a variety of wildlife habitats, a popular beach, boat rentals, and a family campground. The Northern Ridge Golf Resort is right in the area, and features nine holes and antique machinery adorning its course; meanwhile, Long Lake offers an RV park, trail rides and Xcalibre Painball Park.
Long Lake Ski Area is open from December until April (snow dependent) for snowboarding, tobogganing, and downhill and cross country skiing. Rentals and repairs, lessons and a cafeteria are on site. Visit SkiLongLake.com or call 1-866-576-2161.
White Earth Valley Natural Area is a 5,000 acre naturalist's gem adjacent to Long Lake Provincial Park; it's a great place for hiking, mountain biking, and trail riding in the summer, or snowmobiling and Nordic skiing in the winter. Call 780-675-8213 or view the website under AlbertaParks.ca
The Hamlet of Thorhild has an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and ball diamonds right next to the Thorhild Centennial Park Campground. Please visit to enjoy all that our “small community with a big heart” has to offer. Check out the County website and Facebook page for up-to-date information.
