Honeypot Eatery & Pub
Where Your Comfort is a Requirement!
The Honeypot Eatery & Pub – one of the premier pubs in east-central Alberta – enjoys a rich and storied history dating back to 1929, the year of the “Great Fire” which saw much of Wainwright destroyed in its destructive wake. After being rebuilt, the building, which eventually became home to The Honeypot, was once again besieged by fire, though not destroyed this time.
After serving as a boarding house during the 1930’s and 1940’s – with illegal gambling resulting in a shooting and the rumour of a mischievous ghost in the pub by the name of Charlie – the place was eventually bought in the early 1960’s by Bruce and Helen Middleton. Helen created the first iteration of the restaurant in the summer of 1979 and it has been in continuous ownership by three generations of the same family since then, becoming an integral part of the fabric of Wainwright over the course of time.
Be sure to include a leisurely visit at the Honeypot during your visit to Wainwright. Perhaps you’ll want to enjoy the undisputed best steak in town? But no matter which menu item you choose, you’ll be sure to be wowed with your choice since the kitchen is staffed by a skilled team of Red Seal certified chefs who work with only the finest and freshest ingredients to craft the most flavourful and enjoyable dishes.
